We were delighted to host Skylotec trainers Matthias and Björn, and a group of Orsted USA technicians for the first full user training of the new Rope Transfer System (RTS). This has been developed by Orsted, Swire Energy Services and Skylotec during the past 2 years and is fully certified for deployment in Europe and the USA.

The RTS is an add-on for the GUS and acts as a back-up transfer system, allowing additional security of access for projects that want to remove boat-landings from foundation design.

As you can see, the RTS involves the use of Skylotec’s Actsafe power ascender to climb a rope that can be rigged entirely from the CTV and securely anchored to the GUS boom arm. The training was a big success, and the technicians are now ready to use the system at Orsted’s Southfork Windfarm off Rhode Island, where the RTS has been implemented. If you’re interested in learning more, please get in touch.
